Household waste disposal is a big challenge for our government. A metropolitan city like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore etc are already at 1000 tons of house hold waste per day. The industrial town of Bhiwadi(Rajasthan)- India, where I live in is at 70 tons of household waste every day.
Half of this is wet waste which can be avoided by using it to a better use. This wet waste putrifies, leeching out bad small and liquid which seeps into ground and spoils water table as it reaches. By putting them to better use, we not only can prevent environmental disaster, but can take benefit out them.
First is bio enzyme. i have been converting all my kitchen waste into bio enzymes. Bio enzymes work as fertilizers in kitchen gardens, used as various cleaners in household work replacing all the harmful chemicals that we normally use. The results are equally good if not better.
The leftover peels after making bio enzymes go to for compost making. This compost goes as fertilizer into gardens.
We are already a group of enthusiasts who are motivating people to take up this activity. Not tonly they save money by not having to purchase house cleaners, they also prevent wet waste going to landfills.
I would like to take it up on larger scale involving schools and communities. We would motivate canteens and hotels to deal with their wastes the similar way. I would like people to take up both these activities at personal household level and at community level.
Fantastic!!
