Three categories of people have always inspired me. They are Celebrities, Industrialists and politicians.
Celebrities like film stars and sports persons, they are their own assets. They have recognised their inherent talent, worked very hard on growing that talent and then till they nurture their talent they remain role models for young generation.
Industrialists are the ones I admire. Thru their mental acumen, they create a product, develop a business model, get work done from people which is again an art, and earn a more than decent living for themselves. But here they have a product to sell, the customer pays and there is a team which works thru a system.
But this final category of politicians is intriguing. They promise heaven to people and take money from them without or maybe partially delivering the goods. They have no team to trust upon as you never know that the nearest trustworthy may be eyeing your position. Every action and every word spoken is under public scrutiny and every day you have to prove yourself, every 5 years you have to fight to regain the same position or better position in your own party and then in public domain.
That is why if an oppurtunity of spending time with the prime Minister of India happens, it will be quite a learning experience.
When you have to govern a country as diversified as India, with a federal structure where every state is a government and many of them in opposition, when all opposition parties are breathing on your neck for one error, when the country is surrounded by all those who keep you on toes, when you are required to create an image on world stage and for everything a citizen expects you to be held responsible, when you are required to balance financial responsibility keeping in mind all the stratas of society, when every person’s pain, ambitions and dreams rests on your shoulders, it is the highest level of human performance and discipline that is expected of you.
More than the country how does he manage himself, how does he make his own to-do list will be something interesting to know and maybe an hour of meal time with him may turn out to be the best inspiring, motivating, learning meal of life.
