What do you listen to while you work?
While in work, I try not to listen to anything, be it music, be it random thoughts or incessant chattering in mind.
It is said that more than the work or its result, it is the process which makes all the difference. Let us understand by an example of cooking a dish.
Cooking is not only about following a recipe step by step though that can be done but what you get is maybe a palatable dish.
The real experience, real wisdom, lies in between the recipe steps and that is all what makes a difference. Between the steps of recipe, you smell the aroma, see the texture, feel it by stirring, see the color, taste the dish and go on making small changes. Now you get a tasty, nutrtious meal.
Put your emotions into cooking like love for whom you are cooking like when mother cooks for child OR in temples or Gurudwaras where community kitchen or langars work, a sense of service to God and gratitude is put while cooking. What comes out is a nourishing food. A simple food, yet delicious and it nourishes the soul too.
This applies to every type of work you do. Every recipe, every formula, every “how to” is available on internet today. How you do the work makes all the difference. If you put your mind to it, the result is good but if you put heart and soul to it, the result is excellent.
This is what words like FOCUS, CONCENTERATION, BEING AWARE, MINDFULNESS mean.
This is when work is worship and this is when result is the work of God.
