Meditation is the latest fad these days. Everyone is trying to meditate. Everyone knows about meditation and can guide others but cannot meditate themselves.

When I ask people why they want to meditate – the most common answer is finding peace of mind. Then there are many who are not sure of the motive but know that meditation helps in number of ways.

Is it the peace we are looking for? Why do we want peace of mind? People experience better productivity if mind is at peace. But will it not happen that more work means more turmoil’s in mind again. Is it that the cycle of mind will go from peace to turmoil to peace again as we regularly practice meditation?

To me meditation is much more than bringing peace to mind. It is for mind control, it is for increasing mental strength and capability. Our brain is 80 billion neurons. Every neuron has memory power equivalent to 80 GB space. We need a super processing power to make full use of mind potential. Meditation helps us in that.

In fact, for meditation, we need some peace of mind as pre requisite for starting meditation. So take a bath, wear comfortable clothes, light a fragrance, dim the lights, sit in a comfortable posture, preferably cross legged and spine without support, focus on breath, slow breath cycle , bring mind to near still ness and watch your mind getting deep into a zone of timelessness. Make this a daily practice of at least 20 minutes sitting and watch miracles happen.
