Life begins from a source and ends at the same source. Again it begins from the same source and ends at the same source. Like this cycle of life and death goes on till salvation is achieved. This is our ancient mythology.
For centuries it was believed that people who die at Varanasi ( or Kashi as it is widely known), will achieve salvation and will be free from the cycle of birth and death. This is the ultimate wish of every Indian who believes in this.
There are places like Mukti Niwas where people would come to spend last days of their lives. As is claimed, over 15000 people have chosen to leave life here. There is a catch though. On checking in, if after 15 days, you are still alive, you have to leave.
The ghats of Varanasi celebrate both the emotions. One side you have puja to celebrate life, seek blessings for a long and healthy life, while the same ghats witness soul leaving body for onward journey.
