Describe a risk you took that you do not regret.
20 years ago there was an article in a prominent newspaper regarding financial planning for old age. first nine points were related to investments and the last point was an advise which said that give best possible education to children. If they are self sufficient then they will not need your money. If they are not then whatever you accumulate will not be sufficient to last thru.
This statement stuck in our minds and we decided to give best possible education to our children.
Bhiwadi ( the town where we live) was a small village like place 20 years ago,with elimintary schooling facilities. We had a choice of shifting to nearby town but then i would have to spend more than 2 hrs each day commuting for work. Business was new and required long working hours.
We decided to explore sending our daughter who was nearing 10 years of age, to boarding school. Finally she went and spent 8 years of school education and 4 years of college education while remaining as a boarder.
4 years later our son also followed her to a different boarding school and he too spent 12 years in boarding life.
Once a month we used to drive down to meet them, talk to their teachers, meet their friends to ensure they remain on right path. we did miss their presence.
In the end everything has worked out well and we are thankful to almighty for letting us take this decision, which was not an easy one at that time.
Once the end result is clear in mind, if the intention is genuine, ways and means come out.
That’s great to hear, but I have always thought that sending kids to boarding school at a young age is not a good idea.
no parent would do that given a choice. But I have spent many years at boarding and there are many advantages too. Maybe more so these days when parents themselves do not live the life they want their children to live.
I get what you mean. But There are advantages and disadvantages sending your kids at boarding school. however, I don’t think I will want my kids send to a boarding school but It’s just my opinion.
