Childhood was spent at a sleepy, quiet little town near sea side. In fact we had a lovely view of the sea from our house.
Internet was not heard off, newspaper of the day travelled all the way in a bus to get delivered in the evening, TV didn’t work and it was heaven.
Life was peaceful, busy but slow. News of the world was thru people and opinions were formed during discussions with elders.
Every person had a unique mind and thoughts which made conversation interesting. It was unlike today where, with knowledge and wisdom coming from google, quora etc, people have developed standard stereotype minds.
Life was spent in schools, friends, family, watching sea, reading books. Hearing BBC news at 8 pm every day was window to the world
Going back to those days, memories come rushing by with crystal clear clarity.
Then came internet, mobiles, social media. From laptops to tablets and now in mobiles, the information of entire world exists in your hands. Over abundance of information is leading to mind clutter and paralysis of action.
Mind is becoming dull and memory is being lost. Important details like own phone nos, car nos, bank account details, we are forgetting and have to refere to folders in mobile.
All memories are in mobiles and mind is blank. If you have to remember last 10 years of life, it looks like a fast forward case. Your facebook and google drive reminds you of past memories.
Though there are lots of advantages of internet like immediate money transfer, connectivity with near and dear ones, access to all the informations so that you can make a better choice etc but perhaps we have gone overboard with inviting internet intrude our lives.
my choice – maybe childhood situation with limited use of internet- best of both worlds.
