20 years ago there was this Rotary club service project in a local government school and the Principal, in a private moment, requested me to pay fees of a brialliant girl. She was in 5th or 6th class and there was every likelihood of her studies being discontinued as her parents were not able to afford her fees.
Instinctively I agreed and started depositing yearly fees for next few years till she completed her schooling.
Principal again met and requested to foot her college fees as the girl was brilliant. I again agreed and the fees deposit continued for next 2 years.
4-5 years later that girl, now a smart young lady. came to meet me for the first time. She introduced herself in good english and informed that she completed her post graduation also and got a job of a teacher in a government school. This was no mean achievement for someone coming from that economic strata of society.
Later she invited me to her wedding, then, after 2 years again came to introduce her young new born kid. This process of meeting still continues.
she has done good for her and her family and has progressed well in her professional life.
The question is – was this a random act Or was this an act of kindness Or was I lucky to be part of this good work. It gives a deep sense of satisfaction to have played a small role in the struggle of a young girl and a sense of fullfilment to see her emerging successful.
We all are continuously in the process of taking from and giving back to society. In giving back, we sometimes use the term of doing service, charity or an act of kindness whereas in taking from society we do not give a thought.
In a sense, by giving back to society, we are in a way repaying our debts. By giving back to society we are making ourselves eligible to receive more.
This is so awesome…💕💕. Our society need more people like you.. God bless 🙏🙏
