History records dog as man’s first animal friend. Perhaps because they need us for survival and we needed them. Since earlier days dogs were used for hunting, for protection. Even today dogs are used by security agencies to sniff out drugs, for forensic investigations, etc.
In astrology a black dog has a significance too. As a pet in a house a dog is said to prevent negative energies and the negative effect of certain planetary configurations.
But I love dogs for purely emotional reasons. They have a look of genuine love and compassion in their eyes. On reaching home, they receive and greet you with ecstatic joy. Playing with them or talking to them takes all the stress away.
Even on streets, some dogs become friendly seeing you on walk everyday. As soon as they see you, tail starts wagging and they come trotting towards you. Feed them something, pat on their head and back, see love in their eyes and your day is made.
