When are you most happy?

Life goes on and all sorts of emotions come and go by every day. Then, one day I read that happiness brings lots of positive changes in life –

Happiness –

  • gives a sense that life is meaningful.
  • increases mental well being.
  • increases overall longevity..
  • gives satisfaction with life

The article went on saying that generally happy people do well in life..

Since then, I have been trying to find ways of remaining happy as much as possible.

Now happiness either happens automatically or you have to find ways of being happy.

Happiness naturally comes when –

  • Things go and happen as per plan at work and in life
  • Targets are met
  • There is no problem either in health or in family.

For above to happen, it is important that we are in control of situation or be prepared for emergencies. Life will always throw us curveballs. We have to be resilient enough.

We also need to find out ways of being happy in the daily stressful and mundane routines.

I find out my moments of happiness in following ways-

  • A drive to nowhere. Just driving aimlessly either in city or on outskirts or on highway for a while.
  • Walking in my garden and feeling happy seeing one odd tomato or lemon grow or seeing flowers bloom and smile for no reason at all.
  • On a wintery evening, coming back to home little early and nestle in a quilt with a book.
  • Taking a break from work , go to a coffee shop and watch people.
  • Try a new recipe and then eat it too.
  • Do nothing – just ponder, reflect, watch my thoughts, meditate of just be idle.
  • find out time to be with friends.
  • find out reasons to celebrate.
  • stray dogs love me for the reasons best known to them 😁. Sometimes I just step out to be with them. They will come running with tails wagging. I will feed them biscuits and we will have small talks.
  • Go for a walk.
  • Take a short, guided heritage walk or a food walk.
  • Take a holiday.
  • write mindlessly whatever comes to mind. It is a great therepy which works for me.

Happiness is no external package; it is a state of mind. Everyone can practice being happy.
